Customer loyalty for barbers and barbershops

A customer comes back every few weeks. What happens between two haircuts decides whether they come back to you. How to keep them with a card in their Wallet.

Short answer

Loyalty at a barber is about the weeks between two haircuts. A digital stamp card in your customer's Wallet shows on every visit how close the free haircut is. Choose 6 or 7 stamps and one stamp per 24 hours. When a customer stays away longer than usual, send a short message with an extra stamp.

Why don't barber customers simply come back?

A haircut is needed every few weeks. When the time comes, your customer often picks whatever is easiest: close by, free today, on the way home. A customer who has sat in your chair three times is not a regular yet.

What helps is a reason to stay with you. A stamp card gives that reason, especially when your customer sees they are already halfway. On a paper card they only see that when they have it on them. In their Wallet they see it every time they open a card.

How many stamps should a barber choose?

A regular comes once every four to six weeks. With 7 stamps they reach their free haircut in a little over half a year. For a reward worth a whole haircut, that still feels reachable. If your customers come less often, choose 6.

Give 1 welcome stamp when someone signs up, so your customer does not start at zero. On a short card you do not need more.

How do you stamp in a busy shop?

  • Stamp after payment. Scan the card with your phone at the till. Your customer shows their card and that is it.
  • A login for every barber. Your overview shows who added which stamp. Free includes 2 accounts, Starter 3 and Business 25.
  • One stamp per 24 hours. A haircut and a beard trim on the same day then count as one visit, even if two colleagues scan.

If the camera is being difficult, type in the code under the QR code. If the internet drops, the scanner keeps the stamps and sends them later.

How do you bring back customers who stay away too long?

With a win back message. When a customer has not been in for a while, a short message appears on their card by itself: We haven't seen you in a while. Your next visit earns a bonus stamp. When they come in after that, they really get that extra stamp, without you doing anything.

You choose per card after how many days without a stamp the message goes out, between 7 and 365 days. The default is 30 days. If your customers come every five weeks, set it to six or seven weeks. The message only goes to customers who agreed to messages, between 09:00 and 20:00, and once per absence.

Which messages suit a barbershop?

Keep them short and friendly. A few examples:

  • Offer: Tuesday and Wednesday, a free beard trim with your haircut.
  • Reward ready: Your free haircut is ready. Show your card on your next visit.
  • Birthday: Happy birthday from all of us. Enjoy your day.

Do not send more than you would want to receive yourself. One offer on a quiet day works better than a message every week.

What does a stamp card cost for a barber?

It is free up to 30 customers, with stamps and the scanner. For messages such as win back you need Starter, at €19 a month. Business costs €29 a month and helps if you have more than one shop or want a second card, for example for hair products. All prices include VAT. See the plans or the example card on the page for barbers and barbershops.

How do you get started?

Make your card with 7 stamps, a free haircut as the reward and 24 hours between two stamps. Put the poster by the till and ask every customer to scan during the first week. Not sure about the number of stamps? Read how many stamps to give before a reward. More on messages for customers who stay away is in win back regular customers.

Frequently asked questions

Can I set one stamp per day?

Yes. You choose how many hours there are between two stamps. For barbers 24 hours works well: one stamp per visit.

I also sell products. Can I reward those?

The card counts visits, not amounts. If you want to reward products separately, make a second card on Business, for example for hair products.

Does it work when customers book appointments?

Yes. You scan the card when the haircut is done, just as you take payment. You do not need to connect your booking system.

Can every barber in my shop add stamps?

Yes. You invite your team and everyone scans with their own login. Your overview shows who added which stamp.
